1) Overwhelming evidence of a market capable of accommodating a new player with over $100M in revenue over a sustained period of time

2) Overwhelming evidence that the founders have the desire to reach that target and be prepared to do so over at least 5 years with 100% focus

3) Overwhelming evidence that the founders have the ability to solve the critical challenges along the way. In broad terms these are:

  • finding and executing the right wedge to become relevant in the target market (“the idea”)
  • continuously bringing on board exceptional employees, advisors and investors to the business
  • managing all those people effectively
  • transitioning the wedge to a scalable business
  • Not letting go.


The best form of 3) is having done it all before.
